Health

Socio-economic development and health are so closely intertwined that it is impossible to achieve one without the other. Therefore health cannot be looked at in isolation; it can be promoted only through a combination of efforts. We work to help communities to make informed and responsible decisions about health, seeking medical care when needed and participating in activities that help prevent illness. This is why Concern India Foundation extends assistance to:

Preventive Health Initiatives:
  • Information on health and nutrition is imparted through various programmes, campaigns and posters for promoting health care to migrant workers, adolescent boys and girls, women and the aged.
  • Efforts are made to create awareness regarding different diseases through workshops, community meetings and through group interventions.
  • Young villagers are trained as grass-root workers or 'barefoot doctors' in order to make it easier for early intervention in the area of mother and child care and help in overcoming problems of infant mortality and malnutrition.
Curative Health Initiatives:
  • Mobile medical vans and clinics are started in slum communities and in the interior rural settlements, to spread awareness, and make it possible for people to receive primary health care facilities at the earliest and close to their homes.
Rehabilitative Health Initiatives:
  • Counseling and therapy is given to needy groups like the aged, victims of abuse and the differently abled, to ensure sound mental and physical health. This is carried out by counselors and trained personnel. Children and adults with mental / physical challenges are provided occupational therapy, physiotherapy, mobility aid etc.
