Target Group: 50 children and 150 women who are burn survivors  
Synopsis:The aim of this programme in J.P.Nagar, Bangalore is to identify, provide treatment and work towards the medical care and rehabilitation of burn survivors from underprivileged families through education, alternative livelihood skills, counseling, capacity building, extended medical facilities and personality improvement. It also works with the survivor’s family to help them to lead a normal life. The programme networks with hospitals for reconstructive surgery for those suffering from disfigurement due to burns. An effort is also made to create awareness about burns in schools and NGO settings. The programme has now started a short stay home for the burn survivors as they need frequent dressing, care and counseling.
Target Group: 120 destitute aged people
Synopsis:To improve the overall health of the destitute aged, this programme in Tannery Road slums, Bangalore conducts health check-ups, cataract operations, provides medicines, rations and emotional support to the aged. The main objective is to enable the destitute aged to spend the last few years of their lives with the basic amenities essential for a dignified existence with special emphasis on providing medical assistance and day care support. It also sensitizes the community towards the problems faced by the aged. To celebrate World Elder’s Day, the programme organizes an event for about 900 aged people on that day.
Target Group: 15 aged women
Synopsis:This residential programme in Gautam Nagar, Bangalore addresses the needs of destitute orphans, aged, physically challenged and the ailing. The destitute aged women are accommodated in rented houses. They are provided with adequate medical care, nutrition and recreation. The aged get a sense of security, family atmosphere and good living conditions.
Target Group: 12 aged women
Synopsis:This programme in Kammanahalli, Bangalore provides shelter to the underprivileged destitute aged women who are rejected by their families. All the needs of the women, viz. food, clothing, shelter, recreation and medical care are taken care of. At this home the women spend the last days of their life in dignity and peace.
Target Group: health coverage for 6350 community members in tribal hamlets and education for 100 tribal children
Synopsis:School drop outs, child labour, the neglected girl child and children from the tribal communities of the Paniya, the Kurumbas and the Kattunayakas in the Pandalur Taluk of the Nilgiri district, Tamil Nadu attend the two bridge school programmes run by this project. The age group of these children is from 4-18 years. The classes focus on getting the children back into the formal school programme. Mid-day meal is provided to the children attending the bridge school. The project also conducts sports activities, drawing competitions and cultural programmes for them. Motivational and awareness programmes are also conducted for the parents and the community on the importance of education. 
The programme has an integrated approach to health and education and hence, provides medical care through the detection of sickle cell anemia (the gene of this disease is restricted amongst the tribes) as this will help in preventing hematic disorders in them. 
Target Group: 300 children and entire community of 4000 villagers
Synopsis:Villagers in and around Kollapencherry, Thirumangalam, Chennai who work as temporary labourers on farms in sand quarries or in brick factories often face health hazards. This programme provides medical assistance through its community clinic to the villagers. The programme conducts periodic outreach and awareness sessions on health issues for the community.  
Target Group: 30 underprivileged mentally ill women 
Synopsis:This residential programme in Thirumulavoyal, Chennai is involved in improving the social environment for the underprivileged, mentally ill women and their families. The mentally ill have psychomotor retardation that results in their thoughts and activities being slow. To assist in the recovery of the mentally ill and for their psycho-socio rehabilitation, this programme provides medical rehabilitation and uses therapies like occupational, music and medical therapy. The women are involved in the day-to-day activities of the home, maintaining the garden and taking care of their own personal washing and cleaning of clothes and vessels
Target Group: 271 widows below age 60
Synopsis:This rural programme located at village Behrola Faridabad, Haryana works for the health and economic rehabilitation of poor widows in several villages. Having worked in the area since 1993, it was realized that widows in the area are suffering due to lack of livelihood and quality and affordable health services. The programme provides medical insurance support to the marginalized widows in 12 interior villages. These villages are nearly 15-20 kms from the nearest hospital, which is run by the project. The project also conducts monthly medical camps for women in 4 villages (approx.500 women annually) to identify new cases, follow up on old cases, provide medical intervention and refer cases to their hospital or the nearest urban centre.
Target Group: 80 special children
Synopsis:This integrated programme on health and community development in Gurgaon, Haryana aims at early identification and intervention of mental and multiple disabilities in children in the age group 0-6 years. The objective of this programme is that the children with special needs get included in their families, peer groups and health institutions. To achieve this, the project provides early, home based and institution based individualized intervention therapies which focus on activities of daily living. The various interventional therapies used are: neuro-developmental therapy, speech and language therapy, multi-sensory stimulation, sensory integration and occupational therapy and special education. The involvement of the parents through group therapy, training and counseling forms an integral part of this programme. Activities to create awareness within the community are also carried out.
Target Group: 7000 aged villagers
Synopsis: This programme offers mobile eye care services to the poor rural aged through their medical van in five rural villages in south Haryana. The mobile eye care centre provides basic eye care treatment, awareness generation, prevention of blindness through medication. Any patient requiring specialized services, are referred to their centre at Gurgaon. With the help of donations, the programme carries out free cataract surgeries for patients who are from below the poverty line. 
Target Group: empowerment activity for 1125 women, 400 mine workers and 200 children
Synopsis:This integrated programme on health, education and community development in 15 villages in Bharatpur District, Rajasthan provides health, economic rehabilitation and education to mine worker families. Bharatpur is highly dominated by sandstone quarries carved out of the Aravalli Hills. Due to the high mortality rate prevalent for stone mineworkers, these villages are locally known as "widow villages". The programme aims at providing economic rehabilitation to the widows and other underprivileged women first by the formation of self-help groups and then by including various income generating activities within them like cash crop cultivation, practice of goatry, dona-patta (paper plate making), tufted carpets, muda making and setting up grocery shops. The project encourages the widows to go for insurance and widow pension schemes. It also works on vaccination of livestock and insurance of goats. 
To meet the health needs of the villagers, the programme conducts health camps every year. These camps ensure the extension of DOTS (Direct Observation Treatment Services)/RNTCP scheme and screening for other prevalent diseases, sputum testing and treatment of TB patients. It also motivates the mine workers to use cloth masks when they are in the mines as this will safe guard their health.
The programme supports three remedial centres for low level learners in government schools.
Target Group: 350 youth and men undergoing residential treatment for drug addiction
Synopsis:This integrated programme on health and community development in Alipur, Delhi was started as a small drop in centre for addicts on recovery and on using. The programme provides medical rehabilitation to the patients through its detoxification and drug rehabilitation centre by focusing on the psycho-social and spiritual aspects of addiction. The project uses naturopathy, yoga, ayurveda and meditation techniques in its treatment of the drug addict. Pre-admission counseling is given to the patients and their families. Once the patient is admitted, providing treatment cum rehabilitation facilities (management of withdrawal symptoms) and family counseling forms an integral part of the programme. As part of its outreach activity, awareness programmes on substance abuse are conducted in communities, work places and other vulnerable areas.
Target Group: 7800 women & 3500 children from poor rural villages
Synopsis:This programme provides medical care through its hospital for poor women and children in Narsapur area outside of Hyderabad. The programme has taken specialized medical work to the doorstep of the rural poor women and children. It has adopted several villages in Narsapur and is engaged in activities related to health, nutrition and skill training for the village women and children. The programme takes care of deliveries, provides antenatal care and ensures that the children are immunized. To improve the food habits and encourage the women to adopt a balanced food diet, the programme conducts nutrition education classes for them.  
Target Group: 75 aged persons
Synopsis:The basic aim of this residential programme in Moula-Ali, Hyderabad is to offer residential care, nutritional support and day and night medical care to the poor, disadvantaged elderly persons. The support is for the elderly destitute, infirm and widows. The project provides counseling and emotional support to those who are depressed and missing their families. Coming to terms with the death of a close inmate from the home is provided to those who are grieving at the loss of their close friend. As part of its community outreach activity, the programme conducts health camps to identify terminally ill cases in the nearby slums and advices the family members on how to take care of them in their homes.
Target Group: 150 pregnant women and 400 children in the age group 0-5 years
Synopsis:This programme is working in the slum areas of Mahestalla Municipality ward, Kolkata where the maternal and infant mortality rate is very high. To reduce both these mortality rates, the programme is creating health awareness among underprivileged pregnant mothers about safe motherhood practices. There are special health check up camps to detect anemia among expectant mothers. The programme guides eligible couples about planning their family. The teachers in the ICDS programme and anaganwadi workers are also trained about reproduction and child health and these teachers then act as peer educators in every family and generate awareness on safe motherhood practices.
Target Group: 2794 children, 2275 women and entire community of 2581 members
Synopsis:The health care facilities in villages around 24 South Parganas, Kolkata is very poor with a very high incidence of infant and maternal mortality rate. To provide medical care to the poor villagers and improve the maternal and child health status, the health workers from the project visit the homes in order to ensure that proper antenatal and post natal care is taken both by the mother and child and monitor the weight of the child. The programme forms the women into self help groups and conducts workshops for them on safe motherhood practices, safe delivery practices and conducts nutrition education classes for them. They also form village health committees by developing a network of partnerships with the anganwadi workers, the ICDS staff, peer leaders, ANM’s in order to promote safe motherhood practices.
Target Group: 19 mentally ill women
Synopsis:This programme in Panchasayar, Kolkata offers a safe home or half way home to people with prolonged mental illness. It is a nine months residential rehabilitation programme where the residents can find temporary shelter, medical treatment, counseling and training needed for their reintegration into the society. During their stay in the centre, the residents are provided with medicines, lab investigations, mental state examination, counseling, group therapy and cognitive therapy. It also helps them to improve their domestic skills like personal health and hygiene, cooking, washing clothes, sweeping, etc., assist them in improving their life skills like adjusting and sharing with other members, following routine work pattern, taking their medicines daily; and occupational therapy work in sewing and weaving. The programme visits the home of every resident and in the last three months, they gradually expose the resident to their family. The programme conducts awareness programmes on mental health in the community of the residents. The ex-residents are followed up for three years and they all meet together 2 to 3 times a year. 
After the resident is discharged, the programme conducts a 6 months residential intensive vocational training for them in block printing, incense stick making, bari and papad making, sewing and chumki work. 
Target Group: 12 physically challenged children
Synopsis:The main mission of this programme in Barisha, Kolkata is to provide medical and comprehensive rehabilitation to the orthopaedically handicapped children in the age group of 0-14 years. These children come from underprivileged families. The programme provides free of cost surgery, physiotherapy, vocational training and psychosocial therapy. The programme also provides free mobility aids which help in restoring locomotor functions. The project conducts awareness generation programmes and assessment camps in rural areas to detect early childhood disability. Children from districts of West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar and North Eastern region of India avail of these services.
Target Group: health for the entire community of 1215 members, education for 580 children and income generation programme for 100 women
Synopsis:This integrated programme on health, education and community development in the slums of Turbhe, Navi Mumbai is a holistic programme which provides education to underprivileged children, vocational training to the youth and women and organizes health awareness sessions and camps for everyone in the community. The primary focus of the organization is education and thus they run balwadis for children under the age of 6 years and study classes for children attending formal schools. On completion of balwadi education, the project enrols the children in regular schools. Children who are slow learners and may drop out of school subsequently are provided coaching through support classes. Those who have never been to a school are enrolled in non-formal classes and once brought at par are admitted to formal schools. The programme has also networked with a private school that conducts classes for 50 underprivileged children after the school hours. The organization also conducts vocational courses in computers for the youth and school drop outs with the aim of providing them with basic livelihood opportunities. For the adolescent girls and women, the project conducts three to six months training programmes in tailoring, candle making, jewellery making, embroidery, soap and disinfectant making.
The programme, in collaboration with the Primary Health Centre, conducts regular health awareness camps for the community. It motivates the families to get their children immunized against diseases. The also conducts trainings for women on their health issues, nutrition education and on the importance of educating children.
Target Group: Entire community of 13000 beneficiaries, with special focus on women and children
Synopsis:This programme addresses the poor rural and tribal population in 10 villages of Palghar and Vikramgad talukas in Maharashtra. It aims at improving health facilities of for mother and child and reduction in the death rate of children. The project’s mobile clinic detects anaemia in pregnant mothers, makes them aware of its seriousness and preventive measures for the same. The mobile clinic provides medical intervention to malnourished children. The programme trains grass root community health volunteers to build capabilities at the grass root level. These volunteers educate the pregnant mothers for early registration, to go for safe and institutional deliveries and detect high risk pregnancies. To promote the health of the children, the community health volunteers ensure that the aanganwadi food is regularly available to them. Those who are weak are provided with home nutritional supplements. As part of its community awareness activity, the programme conducts group meetings with adolescent boys and girls, newly married couples and mothers about family planning measures, age gap between children, increasing the marriage age, and children’s nutrition and health.
Target Group: 5000 slum dwellers and rag pickers
Synopsis:This programme runs a clinic in the slums of Baiganwadi, Govandi, Mumbai. The clinic extends health services to underprivileged women and children, adolescents, unorganized migrant labourers and rag pickers. It also conducts health awareness sessions for pregnant and lactating women. In these meetings the mothers are given guidance on their and their child’s nutrition status, intake of nutritious diet, motivated for institutional delivery and postnatal care, and emphasis is given on breastfeeding, timely and correct weaning and the importance of immunizing the child. Anaemia detection camps are held for women in the reproductive age group and those found with low Hb count are provided with iron supplements and suggested ways to correct their diet. As part of its preventive health programme the project conducts awareness sessions on hygiene, skin infection, STI/HIV/AIDS and many such topics. To dispel myths and misconceptions in the minds of the youth, the programme conducts adolescent sexual and reproductive health education sessions. Once a month, they celebrate health marker day in the community through street plays, film shows, exhibitions, etc. Many of the unorganized migrant labourers and rag pickers take active part in this event.
