We share with you some of the programmes that we support :
Galli Schools
We support a programme that runs 30 galli schools in re-settlement slums of Delhi, where the slum children get education to help rid themselves of many vicious outcomes of poverty such as drug abuse and child labour. Pre-school education involvement in extra-curricular activities and regular health care is provided to the children in the age group of 4-6 years. Later they are mainstreamed into a formal education set up.
Women's Guidance Cell
This programme reaches out to poor women in distress, facing problems like domestic violence, dowry harassment or adultery. Presently working in 12 communities around Mumbai, the project provides counselling services, legal aid and rehabilitation to women. Besides training them in leadership roles, family life education, gender sensitisation, health and hygiene support is also provided at the Thane Civil Hospital to victims of burns, rape, domestic violence, attempted suicide, and counselling to their families.
Health Care for Aged Poor
To improve the overall health of destitute aged, Concern India Foundation supports a programme in the slums of Bangalore which conducts health check-ups, cataract operations, provides medicines, rations and emotional support to the aged. The main objective is to enable the poor aged to spend the last few years of their lives with the basic amenities essential for a dignified existence. It also sensitises the community towards the problems faced by the aged.
